CNC Lathe Programmer | Delta Township, MI

Salary Range: $61,000 - $96,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

Develop and optimize CNC programs for lathe machines using CAM software.
Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining processes.
Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, cutting parameters, and machining strategies.
Perform program simulations and dry runs to verify tool paths and prevent collisions.
Troubleshoot and debug CNC programs, making necessary adjustments for part quality and efficiency.
Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality control to refine manufacturing processes.
Maintain accurate program documentation, revision control, and tooling libraries.

Recommended Qualifications

Proficiency in G-code and M-code programming for CNC lathes.
2+ years of experience with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit, Fusion 360) for lathe programming.
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Demonstrated understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds, and material properties for various metals.
Experience with machine setup, prove-out, and optimization of CNC lathe programs.

Bonus Qualifications

Experience with multi-axis or Swiss-type CNC lathes.
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) for fixture design.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience with CMM operation or advanced metrology tools.
