A Macomb County-based global defense contract manufacturer is seeking a skilled Accounting Manager to join its team. This key leadership position will oversee the company’s accounting operations and play a critical role in financial planning, reporting, and execution during an exciting growth phase for the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervisory Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of two accounting professionals, ensuring their development and performance align with organizational goals.
  • Month-End Close: Lead the month-end close process and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Prepare, analyze, and refine annual budgets and forecasts, contributing to strategic business decisions.
  • Reporting: Provide in-depth financial reports and insights to executive leadership, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Integration Support: Act as a key partner in system integrations, leveraging experience to streamline processes and improve outcomes.
  • DoD (Department of Defense) Compliance: Support accounting and reporting processes while adhering to DoD requirements (experience in this area is highly preferred).
  • Systems Expertise: Work with Microsoft Dynamics (preferred) or similar ERP systems to optimize accounting workflows.
  • Growth Support: Leverage a proven track record of successfully leading and adapting companies through periods of growth, ensuring stability and scalability in accounting processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience; defense or manufacturing industry background is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, managing and supervising a small team.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with systems integration, with a preference for Microsoft Dynamics ERP.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) regulations and reporting standards is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the proven ability to manage the complexities of a growing organization.

• Proficiency in preparing and analyzing financial statements, including consolidated reports.

• Familiarity with the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) is a plus.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software and tools.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is preferred.
