Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
- Provide support in medical procedures as directed by nursing staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient rooms and common areas.
- Assist with mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices.
- Document patient care activities accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members regarding patient needs and progress.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support patients with special needs such as those requiring Alzheimer’s care or memory care.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance caregiving skills.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a Nursing Assistant preferred.
- Experience in critical care, long-term care, assisted living, or home care settings is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, basic life support (BLS), and vital signs monitoring.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner is a plus.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology; experience with phlebotomy is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health issues.
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient service.
- Willingness to work flexible hours every other weekend required plus some holidays if needed.
