Heavy Civil Estimator II
Position Overview
The chosen Heavy Civil Estimator will assist with bid package preparation for municipal, commercial, and federal projects exceeding 20M in value (up to $300M) with an emphasis on environmental remediation and geotechnical scope. This role involves collaborating with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure that all aspects of the project are considered in the estimation process, ultimately contributing to the successful execution and profitability of the projects. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects using HCSS software.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, proposals, and other documents to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements and scope.
- Assess the cost of labor, materials, and equipment to provide accurate estimates.
- Conduct risk assessments and analyze potential risks affecting project cost and schedule.
- Maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive prices and ensure accurate bids.
- Participate in project meetings and provide estimating expertise during the bidding process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil estimating on projects of similar size and scope.
- Proficiency in HCSS estimating software is required.
- Prior experience with levee, slurry wall, and/or habitat restoration projects is a PLUS
- Strong understanding of construction methods and heavy civil project processes.
- Familiarity with USACE (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) project requirements and regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
