This position offers an opportunity to provide essential support as a paraprofessional within a K-12 school district in Lees Summit, Missouri. The role is designed to address fluctuating staffing needs by covering absences across multiple elementary, middle, and high schools, supporting students in both general and special education classrooms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or general classroom support, assisting teachers and students as needed.
  • Comfortably handle toileting and changing duties for students requiring personal care.
  • Float between various schools within the district, adapting to daily staffing requirements.
  • Support special education classrooms, including those needing Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)-style assistance.
  • Maintain flexibility with hours and start times, ranging from early morning to mid-afternoon shifts.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Substitute Certificate as verified on the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) website.
  • Experience working in K-12 educational settings, preferably with special education students.
  • Ability to effectively support diverse student needs, including toileting and personal care.
  • Flexibility to adjust to varying schedules and work locations throughout the district.
  • Strong communication and adaptability skills to respond to dynamic classroom environments.

Additional Details:

  • Duration: Approximately 1.5 to 2 weeks from the date of offer, ending May 28.
  • Hours: 7.5 to 37 hours per week, dependent on call-out volume and scheduling needs.
  • Potential for conversion to a full-time contract role based on performance and district needs.
  • Multiple positions available to cover 22 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, and 5 high schools.
