Responsibilities:
- Instructional Excellence:
- Develop and implement engaging and rigorous science lessons (e.g., life science, physical science, earth science) aligned with state standards and Liberation Academy's curriculum goals.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, laboratory investigations, and technology integration, to cater to diverse learning styles.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages scientific curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students with diverse academic abilities and backgrounds.
- Assess student learning regularly through various formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and grades.
- Classroom Management:
- Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote student self-discipline and responsibility.
- Communicate clear expectations for student behavior and academic performance.
- Collaboration and Professionalism:
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administration, parents, and the wider school community to support student success.
- Actively participate in professional development opportunities, faculty meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
- Contribute to a positive school culture and climate.
- Communicate regularly and proactively with parents regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Maintain professional ethics and confidentiality.
- Curriculum Development and Innovation:
- Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the middle school science curriculum.
- Stay current with best practices in science education and integrate new approaches and resources into instruction.
- Seek opportunities to connect science concepts to real-world applications and interdisciplinary studies.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Education, or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching middle school science (e.g., 2+ years preferred).
- Strong content knowledge in various scientific disciplines (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, earth science).
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging, hands-on, and student-centered learning experiences.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into science instruction.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- A passion for working with middle school-aged students and fostering their scientific curiosity.
