Role: Accounts Payable Specialist
Location: Washington, DC
Office Schedule: 3x onsite, 2 days remote
Pay: $28.00 – $33.00 / Hourly
Type: Contract

About the Role:
Our client, a well-established organization in Washington, DC, is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join their accounting team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in full-cycle AP, strong familiarity with Workday Financials, and working knowledge of prepaid expenses and sales and use taxes. Responsibilities:
- Process full-cycle Accounts Payable, including reviewing, coding, and entering invoices into Workday Financials
- Verify vendor information, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely payments via ACH, wire, or check runs
- Assist with the management of prepaid expenses, including proper recording and amortization
- Prepare and reconcile sales and use tax reports as needed
- Support month-end close activities, including AP accruals and reconciliations
- Maintain accurate vendor files and ensure compliance with company policies
- Assist with ad hoc accounting projects and reporting requests
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in Accounts Payable, with Workday Financials (required)
- Knowledge of prepaid expenses and sales and use tax processes
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with general ledger accounting
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment
