Our organization is seeking to appoint a Urological Oncologist, with the potential to be designated as the Frank Stranahan Endowed Chair of Oncological Research. This esteemed position will be part of our multidisciplinary medical team at the Dana Cancer Center and the University of Toledo Medical Center.

As a Urological Oncologist, your focus will be on diagnosing, treating, and managing cancers that impact the urinary tract and male reproductive systems. Your role will be crucial in delivering comprehensive patient care, guiding individuals from initial consultation and diagnosis through to treatment and follow-up. You will work in close collaboration with a variety of healthcare professionals, including medical oncologists and radiation oncologists, among others. Surgical proficiency is vital for this role, as you will conduct intricate urologic oncologic surgeries, including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted techniques, aiming for the best oncologic and functional results. Additionally, you will lead urologic tumor boards and engage in clinical trials and research initiatives. Teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows will also be integral to your responsibilities. Strong communication skills, empathy, and a dedication to evidence-based medicine are essential for success in this position. Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, treat, and manage cancers affecting the urinary tract and male reproductive organs, ensuring comprehensive care from consultation to follow-up.
  • Perform complex urologic oncologic surgeries, including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures, with a focus on achieving optimal oncologic and functional outcomes.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including medical and radiation oncologists, to formulate and execute patient treatment plans.
  • Lead and participate in urologic tumor boards and contribute to clinical trials and oncological research.
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows, enhancing academic and clinical education within the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD/DO or equivalent is required.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Urology.
  • Successful completion of a Urologic Oncology fellowship.
  • Current and unrestricted licensure in the State of Ohio is required prior to starting the position.
  • Experience working collaboratively within a healthcare team to ensure positive patient experiences.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
