Medical Assistant
Location: Smithtown, NY
Position Type: Direct Hire Full-Time/Part-Time
Pay: $20 – $22 per hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. This role requires strong communication skills, professionalism, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. The Medical Assistant plays a key role in maintaining patient flow, assisting physicians, and ensuring a safe and efficient clinical environment.
Schedule Options
Part-Time:
- Tuesday, Thursday, Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Full-Time:
- Monday – Thursday | 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- Friday | 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- 1 Saturday per month required
Key Responsibilities
- Escort patients to and from exam and procedure rooms
- Record vital signs, height, weight, and perform controlled substance pill counts
- Collect specimens, complete requisitions, and ensure proper labeling using two patient identifiers
- Prepare and stock exam rooms and procedure supplies
- Assist physicians during procedures
- Maintain infection control and safety standards, including proper PPE usage
- Coordinate patient care, diagnostic testing, and follow-up appointments
- Perform pre-visit chart preparation
- Ensure treatment plan compliance
- Handle clerical tasks including scanning, triaging calls, and scheduling
- Maintain HIPAA compliance at all times
Education & Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Certified Medical Assistant OR minimum 6 months of experience required
- Experience with Microsoft Office required
- Experience with NextGen Practice Management system preferred
