Title: Domestic Operations Manager
Location: Saratoga County, NY - on site role
Experience level: 2+ years of freight forwarding operations experience
Compensation: $70K-$100K
Must HAVE
- Domestic freight forwarding operations experience
- Working at a freight forwarder, not a manufacturer
Responsibilities
- Onboard new clients, including oversight of first several shipments as needed
- Offer guidance to clients in the movement of importing/exporting of freight - from Incoterms to documentation preparation, transit, routings, etc.
- Process shipments, including issuing transport documents, reviewing import/export paperwork, etc.
- Use data and reporting tools to analyze various trends - ranging from client volumes, margins, areas of growth, how to maximize profits, forecasting, etc.
- Experience with DOT regulations; knowledge in OTR, Rail, NMFC, and ELD regulations, etc.
- Understanding and utilizing Tracking and load board management (i.e. Sylectus, DAT 365, Load-link, and Marco-point)
- Database Management for all OTR and 3PL vendors
- Constant regulatory responsibility for vendor insurance
- Conduct and present yearly DOT Workers’ Compensation Audit
- Manage proper regulatory documentation for NYS DOT compliance
- Familiarity with IATA regulations
- Collaborate with other departments, such as Sales and Pricing
- Participate in client calls, seminars, and conference calls; occasionally requiring travel
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations with day-to-day operations
- Accomplish department objectives by managing staff, as well as planning and evaluating department activities
- Track service providers performance and find new providers when the need arises
- Manage staff of 2-5; train, coach, counsel, and discipline employees when needed
- Work closely with department members to solve problems with clients, vendors, agent partners
- Coordinate department meetings to discuss trends, issues, concerns, areas of improvements, etc.
- Follow and enforce company policies and procedures
Requirements
- 2 years of freight operations experience
- Excellent problem resolution and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet various deadlines
- Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
- Positive attitude
- Experience with CargoWise is a plus
