This opportunity is for an experienced PACU Registered Nurse to provide care in a high-acuity acute care hospital setting. The role requires critical post-anesthesia nursing skills, ensuring patient safety and comfort in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The position offers a 12-hour mid-shift schedule from 10:45 AM to 11:15 PM and is ideal for nurses who thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of nursing experience required
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license mandatory
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Previous PACU experience preferred; first-time PACU nurses will not be considered
- Able to accommodate on-call shifts and flexible scheduling options discussed during interview
- Familiarity with Cerner charting system is a plus
Location:Position is based in Petersburg, Illinois, near a Level I Trauma Center that operates as a Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 562 staffed beds. The hospital maintains a strong reputation for clinical excellence and offers a supportive, professional environment. Parking is available via a permit system at no cost to staff.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia
- Monitor vital signs and patient status closely during the immediate postoperative period
- Manage pain, prevent complications, and provide emotional support to patients and families
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care
- Accurately document all nursing interventions and patient responses using Cerner
- Respond effectively to emergencies within the PACU setting
Contract Details:
- Contract position with defined assignment length
- Up to 36 hours of weekly guaranteed shifts; client may cancel within contractual guidelines
