Job Description

Job Description

Our organization is on the lookout for a dedicated Cardiac Advanced Practice Provider with a genuine interest in cardiothoracic surgery services to join our team in Boise, Idaho.

The ideal candidate will embrace a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to inpatient care, working closely with our cardiothoracic surgeons. Surgical Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) will assist in all cardiac and thoracic procedures while also overseeing the CVICU and the step-down unit.

Our Cardiothoracic Surgery program consists of three surgeons, eight APPs, four specialized anesthesiologists for CVOR, and four perfusionists, all collaborating with a skilled staff on a dedicated floor. This facility includes a 10-bed CVICU, three dedicated CVORs, and a 6-bed step-down unit. Our team is expected to conduct over 350 open-heart surgeries, more than 175 thoracic surgeries (including 80 robotic lobectomies), along with over 160 TAVRs and 75 MitraClip procedures.

We specialize in adult cardiac surgery, aortic surgery, minimally invasive valve surgery, robotic thoracic surgery, and hybrid Maze procedures for atrial fibrillation treatment. Additionally, we implant and manage ECMO and the Impella 5.5 device. Our program is actively involved in the STS Registry and rigorously benchmarks performance as part of our commitment to quality and outcomes improvement. Notable achievements include a high early extubation rate, low complication and transfusion rates, and numerous regional and national awards in cardiac surgery. We are dedicated to advancing the cardiothoracic field through innovative clinical research, program development, and educational initiatives.

Schedule: The surgical orientation may consist of five 8-hour shifts for approximately three months, transitioning to four 10-hour shifts per week (typically from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

Requirements:

  • A current, unrestricted Physician Assistant medical license in Idaho, along with a valid controlled substance registration from the Idaho Board of Pharmacy and DEA.

  • Experience in vein harvesting is essential.

  • A robust medical background and a commitment to developing a practice that supports a growing multispecialty medical group. This role will involve obtaining Idaho medical licensure to enhance the health system's general internal program across the communities we serve.

  • Prior experience as a Physician Assistant in cardiac disease management is required.

This position presents an exciting opportunity for the right Physician Assistant to become a valued member of our health system.

Recruitment Package:

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package that includes:

  • A sign-on bonus of $20,000.

  • Relocation assistance.

  • Paid time off (PTO) and continuing medical education (CME) allocation.

  • Malpractice insurance, including tail coverage.

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.

  • Retirement plan (403(b)).
