Job Title: Manufacturing Manager

Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Manager oversees daily production operations within the plant. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this role is responsible for executing production schedules, managing production supervisors, and ensuring output meets safety, quality, and delivery requirements. The Manufacturing Manager acts as the link between plant leadership and the production floor.
Essential Duties: (Additional duties may be assigned as required. )
- Manage day-to-day production operations to achieve output, quality, and delivery goals.
- Get direction from the General Manager on job priorities and scheduling.
- Prioritize work assignments/orders based on production schedules, material availability, or anticipated delays.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, and materials to meet production schedules.
- Line up departments/shifts with job priorities for the day/week with assistance from the Production Coordinator.
- Supervise and develop Production Supervisors / Team Leads.
- Give 90-day and annual reviews to the hourly workforce.
- Approve time and vacation in ADP for all shop employees.
- Work with Human Resources to resolve employee issues as they arise.
- Support employee training and skills development for operators and supervisors, including machining processes, speeds/feeds, tool selection, and best practices.
- Update team members with MTD status on shipments, RMAs, resource issues, and projections through daily huddles.
- Monitor KPIs such as throughput, scrap rates, downtime, labor efficiency, and identify shop inefficiencies.
- Increase production throughput by reducing cycle times and improving part throughput.
- Drive problem-solving and root cause analysis for production delays or quality issues.
- Oversee and manage non-conformances through manufacturing.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering to resolve production and safety issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, ISO processes, and enforce shop-floor safety practices.
- Ensure all procedures, standard work, and ISO processes are followed by shop employees.
- Implement and promote Lean manufacturing practices (5S, setup reduction, waste elimination) to eliminate waste and improve efficiency.
- Report production performance and issues to the Plant Manager.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, or related field (preferred).
- 5–8 years of production management or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, scheduling, and resource planning.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, team building, and communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manage direct report employees in new manufacturing and repair department with the highest integrity. Work closely with Plant Manager to develop and execute manufacturing and repair plan. Responsible for interviewing, training, appraising, rewarding, directing, and disciplining employees. Supervise direct reports in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Enforce company safety rules and policies. Address complaints and resolve problems.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Made2Manage, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Outlook.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A. / B. S.) from four-year college or university preferred; and/or 5-8 years related production management experience in a manufacturing environment; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specialized Training:
Machine shop experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:
- Machine shop skills.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder knowledge.
- CNC and manual machining knowledge.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to wear safety glasses and hard sole/close toed shoes with a low heel when walking through the manufacturing shop and/or repair shop whether as part of performing their job or just passing through. In addition, long hair must be tied back when around hazards of flame, machinery, or equipment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
