NexGrade is looking for a motivated engineer that wants to expand capabilities, continuously learn, and solve complex problems. NexGrade offers an opportunity to develop and utilize broad engineering and communication skills through project development, detailed design, software development, on-site commissioning, and client interfacing. Successful candidates will be analytical, adaptable, and collaborative and looking to experience large scale industrial control system design, programming, testing, and commissioning in a broad range of industrial facilities.

Job Responsibilities

Under the direction of our Licensed Professional Engineers (PE) applicant may be asked to perform the following responsibilities:

  • Interact with customers to gather critical information and review engineering plans.
  • Develop requirements and review control system process and electrical drawings.
  • Develop software for programmable logic controllers (PLC), human machine interfaces (HMI), supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADA) in both large- and small-scale projects.
  • Develop and understand control narratives, specifications, and cause & effects for projects.
  • Direct or support projects in the field on shut-down, startup, installation, and maintenance projects.
  • On-site testing, calibration, and commissioning of control system software, instrumentation, and equipment to ensure correct and accurate operation.
  • Troubleshoot problems that occur during startup that may be caused by incorrect drawings, changes in customer desires, incorrect instrumentation specifications, or other technical issues. Diagnose and resolve software and hardware interface issues.
  • Develop knowledge in gap areas of engineering experience and apply themselves to grow their capabilities.
  • Work alongside a team of other engineers, designers, and client representatives to support project deadlines and milestones.
  • Prepare specifications for purchases of control system equipment and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities.
  • Estimating material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation.
  • Working with a variety of technicians.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment and periodic criminal background checks.
  • Must be available to work overtime and travel out of town periodically.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.
  • Must be available for periodic domestic travel, international travel a plus and U.S. passport desired.
  • Must be willing to travel minimum 30% of the time.
  • Must be able to fluently read, write, and speak English.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or other related engineering fields from an accredited school.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate in the English language, both orally and written methods.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with clients, co-workers, and vendors.
  • Proficiency with reading and understanding P&IDs and electrical controls drawings.
  • Proficiency with IEC61131 software languages.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook.
  • Proficiency with HMI development on commonly used platforms.
  • Proficiency with IP networking, serial networks, and common communication protocols.
  • Proficiency with calibrating and documenting process instrumentation.
  • Proficiency and comfort with overseeing onsite installations and commissioning.
  • Working knowledge of SQL databases and language preferred.
  • Experience with developing control narratives, specifications, and cause and effects.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Working knowledge of other software languages i.e., Python, Java, C++.
  • Prefer engineers who has passed the Fundamental of Engineering Exam.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus or working towards licensure.
