The General Superintendent Position

The General Superintendent provides senior-level field leadership and oversight for construction projects across multiple geographic locations, ensuring that all on-site operations are executed in alignment with company standards, safety protocols, schedules, and quality expectations. Serving as a key liaison between field teams and executive leadership, this role supports site mobilization through close-out, oversees day-to-day operations across multiple active projects, and works closely with Project Managers to align manpower, materials, sequencing, and priorities. The General Superintendent also plays a hands-on role in mentoring Superintendents and Foremen, assisting in team building efforts, and maintaining strong relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, design partners, owners, and regulatory agencies.

In addition, the General Superintendent is responsible for enforcing and modeling a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and internal standards through regular audits, toolbox talks, and proactive risk mitigation. This role monitors workmanship and quality control, reviews plans and change orders for proper field implementation, and coordinates scheduling, workflow, procurement, and manpower planning across trades to keep projects on track. Acting as an escalation point when needed, the General Superintendent represents the company in stakeholder meetings and provides clear, consistent reporting to leadership on project progress, challenges, and overall field performance.

Education, Experienece and Qualifications

  • 10+ years of construction experience, with at least 5 years in a Superintendent or senior field leadership role is required
  • Proven ability to manage multiple job sites concurrently
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, safety regulations, and industry best practices
  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects on time and within budget
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to travel extensively (80-100%)


Additional Preferred Experience

  • Experience in multi-family, senior, or large-scale ground-up home building construction
  • Proficiency with project management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.)
  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent
  • Experience building and mentoring high-performing field teams

The General Superintendent reports directly to the Project Director. Travel for this position is frequent and often throughout the Midwest.
