Resource Renew is looking for a skilled Electrician III who holds a State of Minnesota Journeyman's license or higher to join our team. This onsite role located in Duluth, MN will support the electrical operations, maintenance and reliability of our Districts' facilities. Resource Renew, the brand of Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD), is committed to preventing pollution and protecting the environment, including the region's most precious resource - Lake Superior. Founded as a special purpose unit of government created by the Minnesota Legislature in 1971 to address serious environmental pollution problems in the lower St. Louis River Basin, Resource Renew provides wastewater and solid waste services and oversight for a 530 square mile region around Duluth, Minnesota. Our facilities include a main wastewater treatment plant, multiple pump stations, and solid waste collection sites of varied types.


AS A ELECTRICAN III, YOU WILL

  • Install and maintain electrical systems, raceways, motors, VFDs, PLCs, transformers, and controls.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and controls systems across treatment plants, pump stations, and other District facilities.
  • Maintain and repair instrumentation, metering devices, sensors, and monitoring equipment.
  • Interpret engineered drawings, plan installations, and ensure compliance with electrical codes.
  • Use an enterprise asset management system (EAM) to track work and maintain accurate records.
  • Support training efforts and promote safe work practices across all operations


A TYPICAL SKILLSET FOR THE ROLE IS

  • Knowledge of the installation, operation, and maintenance of a wide range of electrical equipment, instruments, and devices.
  • Knowledge of standards, practices, materials, and processes used in the electrical, instrumentation, and electrical trades.
  • Knowledge of control circuit repair and diagnostic techniques.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, and safety standards related to electrical construction, installation, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement safe work practices, including NFPA 70E requirements, Confined Space Entry, Lockout/Tagout, and Energy Control Procedures.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergency conditions and determine effective courses of action.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use computerized systems for plant operations, historical data tracking, maintenance management systems, and standard office software (spreadsheets, word processing, etc.).
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and electronic equipment, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives).
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, engineering drawings, owner manuals, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and utilize an enterprise asset management system as defined by the District.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have four years' experience as an electrician in a wastewater treatment plant, an industrial manufacturing plant, or directly related industry; or such combination of education and experience as may be accepted as equivalent
  • Must possess a valid State of Minnesota Class A Journeyman license or higher
  • Must possess a valid driver's license

SELECTION PROCESS & TESTING INFORMATION

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications. Those who meet the minimum qualifications will be given an examination, which may consist of a written exam, a presentation, a hands-on test or an oral exam. Final selection will include a panel interview. Passing the examinations and interviews will require a score of 70% or higher.
