Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Provide specialized nursing care in a dynamic Progressive Care Unit, focusing on cardiac and pulmonary patients requiring moderate physiologic support. This contract role is located in Olathe, KS, within a well-equipped Telemetry and Pulmonary Step-Down Unit. The unit handles patients who need more attention than a typical medical-surgical floor but less intensive care than an ICU.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver nursing interventions including continuous cardiac monitoring and vital sign assessments every 3-4 hours.
  • Administer oxygen therapy via nasal cannula, BIPAP/CPAP (up to 80%), and low-flow AirVo.
  • Monitor blood glucose levels and neurological status in accordance with unit protocols.
  • Provide compassionate care for patients with conditions such as COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, CHF, and tracheostomy patients.
  • Utilize Meditech for documentation and ensure adherence to unit-specific guidelines and nursing performance expectations.
  • Collaborate effectively with a team including patient care technicians and unit secretaries in a 1:4-5 patient ratio environment.
  • Participate in a self-scheduling model, including 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active ACLS and BLS certifications required.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred.
  • Experience in telemetry or step-down nursing with cardiac and pulmonary patient care.
  • Competency using Alaris pumps, Kangaroo pumps, and Pxysis systems.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient courtesy, respect, and teamwork.
