Transportation Supervisor – Texas Iron and Metal (11/11/25)
Join Texas Iron and Metal as our next Transportation Supervisor and play a key role in leading our daily transportation and delivery operations. As a member of the operations leadership team, you’ll oversee drivers, equipment, and routing to ensure material is delivered safely, accurately, and on time. This role is critical to supporting sales and yard operations by maintaining dependable transportation execution in a fast-paced environment while helping position the company for future growth.
You’ll focus on driver leadership, scheduling efficiency, safety compliance, and equipment utilization to maximize productivity and service reliability. The ideal candidate thrives in a hands-on, outdoor industrial environment, leads from the front, and brings a practical, solutions-oriented mindset to an evolving operation.
This individual must have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Strong leadership and driver supervision skills
- Process-driven and results-oriented
- Organized and detail-focused with strong follow-through
- Excellent communicator (written and verbal)
- Decisive and calm under pressure
- Skilled in route planning, scheduling, and load optimization
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations, safety requirements, and compliance
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and transportation or fleet management systems
- Understanding of steel, pipe, and industrial material transportation is a plus
- Strong focus on safety, accountability, and on-time performance
- Ability to manage equipment utilization and coordinate maintenance needs
- Adaptable and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced environment
- Accountable and dependable with a strong sense of urgency
- Ability to identify transportation bottlenecks and implement practical improvements
- Understands how transportation performance impacts productivity and profitability
- Effective conflict resolution and driver coaching skills
- Maintains a healthy level of skepticism to ensure accuracy and safe operations
- Enjoys working both outdoors and indoors
Ideal Candidate:
- Understanding of steel, pipe, and industrial material transportation is a plus
- Class A CDL is a plus
- Experience with fleet maintenance and expense management
- Must have supervised a team of drivers of at least 5 for 2 years of more
