Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Take on a rewarding contract role serving students in a school setting as a dedicated RN or LPN in the Lees Summit, MO area. This opportunity involves working 1:1 with students who have complex medical needs in a special education classroom. There are two open positions: one supporting a 4th grade student and another assisting a pre-kindergarten student. Both roles require meeting the student at home, riding the bus together to school, and supporting other students in the classroom as needed. When your assigned student is absent, you’ll step in as a clinic nurse at various schools within the district, which requires flexibility and a willingness to work with students across all grade levels (PreK-12).
Qualifications:
- Active Missouri RN or LPN license in good standing (verified via Nursys, no license issues)
- Significant recent pediatric experience; ICU, ER, or school nurse experience preferred (no new grads)
- Comfortable caring for students with trach, G-tube, seizure disorders, and wheelchair mobility
- Solid computer literacy and ability to multitask, as all charting is electronic
- Flexibility to work across different school sites and grade levels, including field trips
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, compassionate care to assigned student(s) throughout the school day
- Serve as a health resource for other students in the special education classroom
- Ride the bus with your student daily
- Step into other nursing roles within the district as needed when assigned student is absent
- Complete timely, accurate electronic charting and communication with staff
This contract runs through the end of the school year, with full-time hours in May and reduced hours through June (Monday-Thursday for ESY). Interviews are being scheduled promptly via Zoom, following a brief phone prescreen.
