Position Function Summary
Under the direction of the Chief Clinical Officer (CCO), the Triage Nurse Manager RN manages Triage clinical nursing operations and communication between the nursing, laboratory and medical records personnel and administrative staff.
Essential Responsibilities
- Maintains a nursing practice at LFMC as authorized by the nursing license and in accordance with the LFMC Registered Nurse job description. Works in delivery of primary care to patients; meets or exceeding quality of care standards established by LFMC and its grantor agencies. Evaluates outcomes and modifies treatment plan accordingly;
- Provides educational leadership to medical support staff to enhance specialized patient care within LFMC healthcare setting
- Provides leadership to ensure that LFMC maintains the highest standards of excellence in customer service by anticipating and responding to needs of members, customers, and internal partners; proactively works to continuously improve the quality of customer service provided by LFMC to its constituents;
- Leads personnel in such a manner as to promote a productive, efficient, and safe working environment; establishes an effective flow of communication and information to ensure that problems can be responsibly solved and that support is provided to the staff as needed. In coordination with the human resources department, assists in the selection, assignment, training, development, review and performance management of assigned direct report personnel;
- Ensures implementation of an effective performance management process for all direct report staff that clearly defines performance expectations and measures, including goal and objective setting, performance feedback, accountability measures, and corrective action as appropriate, and in compliance with sound management practices and applicable laws and regulations to ensure high levels of organizational, work unit, and individual performance;
- Assists with the triage schedule and medical support staff schedules at the Alto and Southside Clinics; Provides direct nursing services in triage and clinic to assist in the performance of all related nursing duties
- Assures that adequate staff are present and timely for each session;
- Assists providers as needed (questions about programs, IPPs, supplies, etc.);
- Assists in the flow of communication between front desk, medical records, providers, medical support staff, laboratory, and patients;
- Coordinates patient flow between providers and patients;
- Provides Nurse/Triage manager support to the Alto/Southside MA Clinical Coordinator.
- Oversees infection control tracers and autoclave responsibilities as directed by the Chief Clinical Officer
- Manages and follows up on potential Nosocomial infections following procedures at LFMC.
- Reports monthly Positive Tuberculosis testing to the Department of Health.
- Manages the Bilateral Tubal Ligation surgery list for Title X.
- Implements workflows, policy and procedures for emergent infectious diseases, i.e. COVID, Flu.
- Works with VFC team attending to Alto, Southside, HCH refrigerator/freezer excursions after clinic hours.
- Conducts Employee Health infectious disease symptom screening i.e. COVID.
- Collaborates with HR to ensure new staff vaccine compliance and administers immunizations and PPD for current staff members.
- Provides support for Telephone Triage staff including training, refills, answering calls and receiving critical lab values.
- Oversees the Triage process/ MA/LPN/Nurse visits.
- Responds to emergent and non-emergent needs in the clinics.
Requirements:
Education, Experience and Skills/Training
- Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited nursing school, and a minimum of three years of supervisory nursing experience (charge nurse experience is acceptable). Experience in a community health center, and working within a managed care environment are preferred.
- State of New Mexico Registered Nursing License; CPR certification required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to lead and supervise professional staff and to train, counsel and evaluate performance;
- Excellent organizational and self-management skills, including time management techniques regarding various clinical functions (i.e. Joint Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), lab, pharmacy, infection control) and familiarity with state and federal laws and regulations for the operation of nursing services is essential;
