Our client is a recruiting agency. They seek a career advisor to join their Washington, DC, office.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake, eligibility screening, and job readiness assessments with participants
  • Coordinate barrier removal before and after job placement, ensuring participants have the resources and support needed to obtain and retain employment (e.g., housing, clothing, healthcare, childcare)
  • Create individualized employment service plans for participants
  • Engage with participants regularly in person or via phone/video, to ensure continuous progress toward professional, personal, and academic goals
  • Support clients individually with job searches, higher education applications, personal and career assessments, and exam preparation
  • Maintain detailed case notes, update attendance logs, submit weekly reports, and complete other administrative tasks promptly
  • Refer clients to vocational training, technical skills classes, and certification programs
  • Achieve weekly, quarterly, and annual enrollment and job placement targets
  • Demonstrate professionalism and inclusiveness, cultivate a safe environment for career development, and motivate clients to secure full-time employment


Requirements

  • 4-year degree, relevant experience, or advanced studies in social services
  • 1-3 years of experience working with clients/participants in a workforce development, social services, or community-based context
  • Experience developing individualized service and/or employment plans for participants preferred
  • Experience and/or passion for serving individuals from disadvantaged and underserved populations
  • Experience with Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Informed, and/or Two-Generational methods a definite plus
  • Understanding of workforce development, employment services, and adult education a definite plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Microsoft Teams, and or SharePoint preferred
