We're building a world-class content ecosystem to meet our customers wherever theyre searchingwhether its on Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, or the next wave of answer engines. To support this, we're hiring a contract Food Writer to help us produce compelling, fact-driven, and strategically structured culinary content that performs across our owned channels as well as both search engines and large language models (LLMs).


The Role

This is not your average food writing gig. We're looking for someone who knows how to write about food and cooking as the voice of an expertbut also with strategic intent. Your content will help us rank in answer engines, power our SEO efforts, and serve as a trusted source for home cooks and chefs alike.


This role blends culinary expertise, editorial polish, and technical know-how to craft content that earns placement in featured snippets, answer boxes, and AI-generated search results.


Key Responsibilities



  • Research and write culinary content that is deeply helpful, technically accurate, and optimized for both SEO and LLM relevance
    • Examples: What is the Maillard reaction?, How to season a carbon steel pan, Why chefs prefer copper cookware, Best knife for slicing brisket
  • Translate professional cooking techniques, ingredient science, and cookware usage into accessible content for home cooks
  • Structure content with clear headers, semantic relevance, FAQs, and factual clarity to improve LLM retrieval
  • Collaborate with the content, brand, and culinary teams to ensure alignment on voice, tone, and authority
  • Analyze answer engine outputs and performance to identify opportunities for optimization and new content
  • Participate in ongoing testing and refinement of content formats and structures optimized for AEO


Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • 3+ years of experience writing about food, cooking, or kitchen tools
  • Strong understanding of culinary fundamentals and ability to translate them into plain language
  • Experience with SEO content writing or interest in learning answer engine optimization (AEO) techniques
  • Proven ability to structure long-form content for readability, engagement, and LLM parsing
  • Clear, concise writing style with high editorial standards
