Job Description

Position: Controls & Instrumentation Technician – Overnight Shift (Temp-to-Perm)

Schedule:

  • Week 1: Mon, Tue, Wed, and every other Sun – 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM
  • Week 2: Thu, Fri, Sat, and every other Sun – 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM
  • Rotates every 3 months
  • 15% overnight shift differential

Overview:

We’re seeking an experienced Controls & Instrumentation Technician to support the startup, maintenance, and improvement of complex automated manufacturing equipment. You’ll be hands-on with PLCs, vision systems, robotics, drives, and process controls—ensuring high uptime, low scrap, and exceptional product quality in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize automated equipment controls and instrumentation.
  • Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, servo/VFD drives, and vision systems (Cognex/Keyence).
  • Support equipment installation, start-up, qualification, and on-site acceptance testing.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with operators, engineers, and maintenance teams to improve processes.
  • Document maintenance activities, create SOPs, and train others.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years working with controls and instrumentation on automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong PLC programming (Rockwell ControlLogix) and HMI experience.
  • Knowledge of VFDs, servo drives, PID loops, and process control.
  • Experience with machine vision systems (Cognex, Keyence preferred).
  • Ability to read technical prints, troubleshoot control circuits, and wire machinery.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 79/NFPA 70E safety standards a plus.
  • Associate degree, engineering technician diploma, or electrical license preferred.
