The primary role of a warehouse worker is to efficiently receive, store, and issue materials, equipment, and other items from stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards. This role involves ensuring that inventory is accurately recorded and organized to facilitate easy access and distribution.
Responsibilities
- Receive and count stock items, recording data manually or using a computer.
- Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
- Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
- Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
- Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
- Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.
- Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
- Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers.
- Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5-7 years of experience required.
- Experience with inventory, picking, material handling, packing, order picking, and RF scanners.

Work Environment
The work environment is climate-controlled and clean, providing a comfortable setting for employees. Employees work a flexible shift, including standing for at least 8 hours and performing tasks such as pushing, pulling, grasping, and lifting, with accommodations available as needed. The facility encompasses multiple departments, and employees may be involved in tasks such as manually opening items, filling containers, checking orders, and placing orders. This is a Contract position based out of Mechanicsville, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.00/hr.
