JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant III role at Catalyst Physician Group is a highly skilled clinical team member responsible for advancing support to physicians and clinical teams, ensuring a high standard of patient care and operational efficiency. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accurately obtain, record, and document patient vitals and clinical information in the EMR using established protocols
- Perform all duties of highly experienced Medical Assistant II at a high level of independence, including procedures, medication administration, injections, immunizations, and other procedures
- Clinical inbox management for self, provider and POD as needed. To include timely response to patient inquiries, managing refills, and answering any clinical questions within the scope of practice
- Creates positive team member and patient experiences
- Practices service recovery and service excellence, proactively addressing patient concerns, and ensuring positive feedback from patients and providers
- Participates in assigned related clinical projects
- Provide educational materials and health information under physician guidance
- Observe and report patient concerns and condition changes to to licensed personnel
- Possesses advanced clinical skills, knowledge and/or specialty certifications (i.e. Pediatrics, Phlebotomy, Value-Based Care, HEDIS, advanced equipment uses)
- Cross trained to work in multiple departments, roles, and locations including Front Office and Lab, and able to float as needed to support team coverage
- Covers Nurse/MA visit schedules and performs ancillary procedures as required
- Accurately and completely documents patient encounters in the EMR, utilizing auditing tools and following refill protocols
- Conducts regular audits using the rooming guideline tool to ensure compliance with documentation standards
- Serves as POD/Station Lead for Quality control activities, including chart audits, vaccine inventory, and OSHA compliance
- Conducts site safety audits and reports on variance or incidents, ensuring little to no deficiencies
- Maintains advanced knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and clinical compliance practices
- Acts as a clinical mentor and preceptor for new hires and provides ongoing training for other Medical Assistants, ensuring proper technique and adherence to established policies and procedures
- Leads or coordinates small team tasks or huddles as assigned
- Demonstrates advanced EMR workflow knowledge and proactively manages clinical inboxes for self and providers
- Reviews patient schedules, performs encounter preparation, and escalates appropriately within scope
- Advanced patient guidance, communication, and coordination are all supported by proactive workflow
- Successfully completes the 60-day competency and skills checklist as part of onboarding and ongoing professional development
- Participates in periodic skills assessments and demonstrates proficiency in all required clinical tasks
- Works well with a diverse group of professionals in a team environment, proactively supporting POD and team members
- Covers Nurse/MA schedule and floats as needed
- Demonstrates patience and commitment to CPG values, consistently exceeding patient expectations and uplifting team members
- Support providers in Value-Based Care initiatives
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) required
- Current AHA or American Red Cross BLS certification for healthcare providers with hands on component preferred or within 60 days of hire
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting is required
- Strong knowledge of clinical best practices, infection control, and regulatory compliance
- Documented proficiency in advanced clinical skills and knowledge (i.e. Phlebotomy, prescription medications, vaccines, and quality metrics [HEDIS]
