Schedule

  • Multiple Shifts:

    • Evenings: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

    • Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

  • Weekend rotation required

  • Flexibility across shifts expected

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $45.79 – $68.00 (based on experience)

  • Sign-On Bonus: $20,000

  • Relocation Assistance: Available on a case-by-case basis

Hospital Overview

A nationally recognized women’s and newborn specialty hospital in Houston, Texas is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager – NICU. This large acute care facility is dedicated exclusively to women’s and neonatal services and is known for:

  • Delivering 800+ babies per month, among the highest volumes in Texas

  • Operating a Level IV NICU, providing the highest level of neonatal care

  • Offering a NICU Family Support program in partnership with a national nonprofit

  • Specialized expertise in obstetrics, high-risk pregnancy, infertility, pediatrics, and women’s health

  • Being part of a large regional healthcare network with extensive clinical resources

Position Summary

The Nurse Manager – NICU supports the Director in overseeing daily operations of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This role ensures high-quality patient care, effective staff leadership, and alignment with organizational goals. The Manager provides clinical oversight, supports performance improvement initiatives, and serves as a mentor and resource for nursing staff across multiple shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director in planning, implementing, and evaluating NICU operations

  • Lead, mentor, and support NICU nursing staff in the delivery of patient care

  • Ensure nursing care is delivered according to best practices and the nursing process

  • Participate in quality improvement and performance initiatives

  • Coordinate staffing and scheduling across days, evenings, and nights

  • Serve as a clinical expert and resource for staff

  • Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, and excellence in neonatal care

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of NICU nursing experience required

  • Recent (within 1 year) acute care NICU leadership experience required (Level III or IV NICU)

  • 2+ years of management or charge nurse experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required

  • Active Texas RN license or Multi-State Compact License

    • Texas RN license required within 60 days if compact

  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required

  • Reports To: NICU Director

  • Reason for Opening: Backfill and departmental growth

  • Days Open: 180+

  • NICU Beds: 30

  • FTE Oversight: Approximately 20–35 staff across all shifts
