Program Mission: EPATT equips youth with the skills to achieve college and career readiness through academic, one-on-one tutoring, parent empowerment, enrichment activities, mentorship, coaching, and tennis instruction. Position: Assistant Tennis Coach
Description of Role: The Assistant Tennis Coach plays a vital role in supporting the Head Coaches in delivering a safe, fun, engaging, and educational tennis experience for youth players. This position involves assisting in coaching sessions, supervising activities, supporting safe equipment usage and dispersal, providing mentorship, and contributing to the overall development of participants' tennis skills. This Assistant Tennis Coach role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of young tennis enthusiasts while gaining valuable coaching experience. The successful candidate will have the chance to make a meaningful impact on participants' lives by fostering their passion for tennis and helping them build essential life skills.
Responsibilities:
Assist in Coaching Sessions:
● Support the Head Coach in planning and conducting group lessons, clinics, and practice sessions.● Assist with the demonstration of proper techniques, strategies, and game concepts to enhance players' understanding of the game.
Player Development:
● Provide individualized attention and guidance to players, helping them improve their tennis skills and overall performance.● Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
Organize and Execute Activities:
● Help organize and supervise drills, games, and skill-building exercises that are appropriate for different age and skill levels.● Contribute to creating engaging and enjoyable training sessions that keep participants motivated and excited about tennis.
Safety and Discipline:
● Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during training sessions and activities.● Enforce program rules and guidelines to maintain a respectful and disciplined atmosphere.
Mentorship and Character Development:
● Serve as a role model and mentor to young players, providing guidance on values, teamwork, and life skills through tennis.
Equipment and Facility Management:
● Assist in setting up and maintaining tennis equipment, including racquets, balls, nets, and court markings.
Communication and Reporting:
● Maintain clear and effective communication with the Head Coach and participants regarding program activities, updates, and progress.
Participation in Events:
● Assist in organizing and participating in intra-program matches, tournaments, and events to provide players with competitive opportunities.
Continuous Learning:
● Stay current with coaching techniques, trends, and best practices in youth tennis development.● Seek opportunities for professional growth and attend relevant coaching workshops or training sessions.
Qualifications:Passion for Tennis and Youth Development:
● Enthusiasm for working with young players and helping them develop their tennis skills and character.● Experience working with a diverse group of youth and ages.● Spanish language knowledge a PLUS!
Tennis Knowledge:● Familiarity with tennis rules, techniques, and strategies, with a willingness to learn and grow as a coach.● Tennis experience (Level 3.5 or higher)● Tennis teaching experience (2 years minimum)● USTA Safeplay certified
Communication Skills:● Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with players, parents, and colleagues.
Team Player:● Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach, fellow assistant coaches, and program staff.
Adaptability:● Flexibility to adjust coaching approaches based on the needs and skill levels of individual players.
Positive Attitude:● Approach coaching with a positive and motivating demeanor to inspire and encourage young players.
Background:● Completion of a background check and any required clearances for working with youth.● High school diploma or equivalent - College degree preferred

Dates/Schedule:August 13 – June 15 (off during holidays, possible summer work)
Hours:
Available shifts are:
- Mon-Fri 8am-1pm or 8am-2pm or 12pm-3pm
- Mon-Fri 3--6pm
- Saturdays 9am-12pm
