Overview

This role involves field-based construction quality audits and inspections for coax and fiber network infrastructure. The technician will perform a variety of construction and maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and supporting project coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures the execution of overhead/underground construction duties such as: placing hard-line Connectivity & Platforms, framing and strand poles, transferring facilities between poles, placing Connectivity & Platforms in joint trench, and safe operation of construction vehicles and Connectivity & Platforms trailers.

  • Investigates and monitors accurate record keeping concerning project start, milestone dates, production logs, material costs, and labor expenditures.

  • Instructs work site safety standards; conducts work site visits to ensure compliance with safety standards and participates in regular safety meetings with the crew.

  • Supports Specialists and leadership team with coordination of projects.

  • Generates logs and reports on construction, projects, materials, and expenditures.

  • Reviews, resolves, follows-up customer requests and complaints.

  • Monitors performance of construction crew to established goals and objectives.

  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance; ability to work nights and weekends, variable schedules, and overtime as necessary.

  • Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of business support, technical, or production staff who perform tasks in the same function.

  • Sets priorities for the team; assigns tasks and checks work at regular intervals.

  • Ensures all work performed on the project meets or exceeds Comcast, Local, State, or Federal standards and regulations.

  • Updating the JT or Polaris entry (job docs/maps) QC for path verification.

  • Primary contractor interface in the field and acts as the NGAN liaison with the Regional network Technicians.

  • Ensures new or upgraded power supply is in place and operational prior to cut date.

  • Overall responsibility for the quality of the NGAN product, from contractor building to handoff to operations.

  • Expected to spend 90% of time in the field.

Required Skills

  • Coax and fiber construction experience

  • Basic computer skills to use Microsoft, Smartsheets, Teams, P2

  • Network Maintenance Technician experience a plus

  • Ability to read design prints

  • Willingness to travel as needed

  • Reliable transportation

  • Ability to complete construction quality audits in the field (80%) and perform related office work (20%)

  • Experience inspecting nodes, amplifiers, power supplies, fiber taps, enclosures, etc.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong documentation and review skills

  • Ability to verify and review audit rework repairs and tasks in a timely manner

  • Availability from M-F 8a-5p via phone for troubleshooting and job clearance

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with coax and fiber network infrastructure

  • Ability to perform inspections on various network components

  • Willingness to stay overnight for remote jobs

  • Strong communication skills for direct contact with BPs and team members

  • Experience with construction quality audits and documentation
