Kordsa currently has an opening for SHE (Safety, Environmental and Health) Technician at our Laurel Hill, NC location. This role will be hourly, non exempt.If you have the necessary experience and competencies outlined below, we would love to hear from you. Below is a description of responsibilities and requirements for this role:
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local and company safety regulations and policies
- Oversee employee safety and engagement programs at Laurel Hill site, including Collaborate with supervisors and employees to address safety concerns in a timely manner
- Support incident/near-miss investigations, identify root causes, and assist in corrective action implementation
- Oversee the facility’s ISO 14001 program
- Participate in internal and external safety audits
- Ensure that all Federally Mandated Training (FMT) is completed
- Promote a culture of safety through positive reinforcement and active engagement
- Other duties as assigned
Competencies:
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, working effectively with contractors and Kordsa employees to resolve safety concerns
- Excellent Communication Skills, clearly explaining safety requirements, incidents and instructions to the site
- Problem Solving, Investigative and Decision Making skills, being able to gather facts interview witnesses and conduct root cause analyses for any incidents
- Regulatory Knowledge, having a basic understanding of OSHA, EPA and other applicable safety, health and environmental regulations
- Attention to Detail, identifying hazards and keeping accurate records
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing environment
- Must wear safety glasses
- Must wear safety shoes
- Must wear ear protection
- Must wear long sleeve with certain task
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions (indoor, outdoor, hot, cold, noisy).
- Work may require wearing PPE, including respirators, hearing protection, and safety eyewear.
- Must be able to lift up to 35lbs.
Expected Hours of Work:
- M-F 7:00am- 3:30pm, must be able to work off shift when necessary
Travel:
- Occasional Travel may be required
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, equivalent safety management experience or combination of education and experience.
- 1 year Safety, Health and Environmental experience.
Preferred Experience:
- 2 years or more experience with Safety, Health and Environmental responsibilities,
- 2 years or more of manufacturing experience
- 1 year of supervisory or management experience
