Minimum 1+ years Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This full-time Paraprofessional position is available for a full semester contract, starting ASAP and ending June 12, 2026, at a high school located in Chester, PA. The role focuses on providing 1:1 support to a student who uses a wheelchair, assisting with gathering supplies, transitioning around the building, and setting up for each class. Additionally, you will offer climate support when the student is absent, contributing to a positive and supportive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personalized assistance to a student with special needs, including toileting and diapering support
- Assist with transitions and classroom preparations throughout the school day (7:15 AM - 2:45 PM)
- Support behaviorally challenged students in a respectful and patient manner
- Maintain a positive climate when the student is not present
- Collaborate closely with school staff and follow district protocols
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma required
- Current CPR certification (resource available to obtain if needed)
- Comfortable and experienced working with special education (SPED) students in an urban school setting
- Ability to work with behaviorally challenged students and perform personal care duties such as toileting
- Must complete required Pennsylvania clearances prior to start date
- Previous school-based paraprofessional experience preferred
- Strong references from prior positions in educational settings
- Willingness to participate in a Zoom interview and disclose district affiliation upfront
