We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector with 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in pressure vessel fabrication. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in layout, fit-up inspection, welding processes, and an in-depth understanding of applicable code requirements (ASME Section VIII, B31.3, etc.). The ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings is essential. Current or previous Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) status and NDT certifications are highly desirable.


Requirements
Perform in-process and final inspections of pressure vessels, ensuring conformance with project specifications, drawings, and applicable codes.


Layout and dimensional inspection of shell courses, heads, nozzles, internals, and support structures using appropriate precision measurement tools.


Conduct fit-up inspections, ensuring proper joint preparation, alignment, and compliance with WPSs.


Review and verify weld maps, traveler documents, and inspection/test plans (ITPs).


Understand and verify compliance with welding processes, WPS/PQR requirements, and welder qualifications.


Monitor welding activities, ensuring compliance with quality requirements and procedural specifications.


Interface with project managers, engineers, and third-party inspectors to resolve quality issues.


Interpret and apply requirements from applicable codes and standards such as ASME Section VIII, IX, B31.3, API 650, or customer-specific specifications.


Prepare and maintain accurate inspection records, NCRs, and reports.


Assist in NDT coordination and review of NDT results (PT, MT, RT, UT) as required.


Support final documentation turnover and pressure testing activities.

Qualifications:

5 to 10 years of QC inspection experience in vessel or heavy steel fabrication environments.


Proficient in reading fabrication drawings, isometrics, and welding symbols.


Deep understanding of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW) and inspection points throughout the weld lifecycle.


Knowledge of ASME, AWS, API and other relevant codes.


CWI certification (AWS) preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months.


NDT Level II certifications (PT, MT, RT, UT) are a strong plus.


Familiarity with material traceability, MTRs, and heat number control.


Strong organizational and communication skills.


Ability to work in the field/shop environment, including climbing, lifting, and prolonged standing.
