Compensation: up to $55 per hour

We are seeking an engaging, knowledgeable, and student-centered Middle School Science Teacher to join a growing public charter school in Plainfield, NJ. This teacher will work with grades 5–8, helping students explore the world around them through hands-on experiments, scientific inquiry, and critical thinking.

What You’ll Do

Teach science content across grades 5–8, including Earth Science, Life Science, Physical Science, and introductory Chemistry/Physics concepts.

Create and deliver engaging lessons aligned with state standards that promote inquiry-based learning.

Facilitate hands-on experiments, lab activities, and real-world investigations that spark curiosity and deepen understanding.

Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including those needing remediation or enrichment.

Use assessments and data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction for mastery.

Foster a classroom environment that encourages questioning, exploration, and scientific thinking.

Integrate science-related technology tools and digital resources to enhance instruction.

Collaborate with grade-level and content teams on curriculum development and cross-curricular initiatives.

Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school-wide initiatives.

Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.
What You’ll Bring
Required:
- Holds a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and is eligible for a CE or CEAS, or holds a valid NJ teaching
credential for the grade and/or subject required. - Must hold or be able to obtain the New Jersey Certification for Middle School with Subject matter
specialization Grades (5-8) - Charter school or urban school setting experience is preferred, but not required.
- A demonstrated track record of facilitating student academic growth and having a joyous, positive
classroom. - Passion and sustained commitment to ensure that joyful, rigorous instruction is delivered to every
scholar, every day.
