Hyndman Area Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). We are looking for a Patient Services Representative to perform clerical duties at the Reception area.
The Call Center Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service through incoming and outgoing phone communications. This position is responsible for scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, routing calls, and supporting efficient clinic operations. As part of professional development, the Call Center Representative will be cross-trained in front desk operations to provide coverage and support as needed.
EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Call Center Functions
- Answer incoming calls in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments.
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
- Route calls and messages to appropriate providers and staff.
- Assist patients with general questions regarding services, office policies, and appointment availability.
- Document patient communications accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Conduct appointment reminder calls and other outbound patient outreach as assigned.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Meet established performance standards for call quality, accuracy, and productivity.
- Cross-Training and Front Desk Support
- Participate in training to learn front desk registration and check-in/check-out procedures.
- Provide front desk coverage during staff absences, vacations, or periods of high patient volume.
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Collect and process patient forms, copays, and required documentation.
- Assist with patient registration and insurance verification.
- Support overall clinic operations through teamwork and flexibility.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum one (1) year of customer service experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with computers, phone systems, and data entry.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred
- Experience in a healthcare call center, medical office, or customer service environment.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Medical scheduling or patient registration experience.
