The City of Minot is accepting qualified applications for the entry-level position of Police Officer in the Minot Police Department. All qualified applicants must successfully complete the IPMA-HR POA Series written police exam, MPAT physical agility test, oral interviews, background investigation, personality assessment and post-offer medical exam.
+ Nature of Work
This is an exciting position in a state-of-the art law enforcement agency where you will work to serve and protect this community through the enforcement of state and local laws and ordinances. Work involves responsibility maintaining public safety in the City by enforcing laws. Work is reviewed through reports, observations, and discussions and evaluations. + Education and Experience
Qualified applicants must possess at least one of the seven following requirements:
- 60 or more accredited college credits
- Possess a current North Dakota (or other state) Peace Officer License
- Completion of a state certified Law Enforcement Skills Program
- Fulfillment and certification of at least ONE full term Active-Duty US Military Enlistment with an honorable discharge (DD214 required)
- Completion of AT LEAST (2) years of enlistment and discharged due to injury or other non-disciplinary reason with no less than a General Discharge. Applicants DD214 must be reviewed by the Chief of Police or designee for approval.
- Completion of AT LEAST (4) years of National Guard service with a letter from commander outlining dates of service, and that applicant is in good standing with their unit with no disciplinary issues.
- If no longer serving, applicant must provide their NGB22 form for proof of service with a General or Honorable Discharge (to be reviewed by the Chief of Police).
- Completion of AT LEAST (2) years as a Corrections Officer with the completion of a state certified Correctional Officer Skills course.
All applications must include official copies of college transcript and any additional materials such as cover letter, resume, and credentials to include licenses and certificates, DD214, NGB22.
+ Compensation and Benefits
- The assigned salary range for Police Officer under the 2025 City of Minot Annual Pay Plan is Grade 60, with an associated pay range of $26.83/hour - $39.83/hour.
- Aggressive pay increase structure, featuring standard annual increases, as well as career ladder increases available at 3 and 5 years. Additional market increases provided as indicated with Annual Pay Plan.
- This is a full time, FLSA non-exempt position.
