Pay: $65,000-$85,000/year

Position Summary:


This entry level Project Manager supports the engineering, construction and development efforts, as well as the coordination and project management of work activities for multiple renovation and new construction projects within GreenWaste’s footprint, encompassing hauling, material recovery and composting sites.

This individual will be responsible for project management across all aspects of the project lifecycle: planning, scope definition, design, execution, and delivery. They will champion operational process improvements, drive the standardization of workflows, and contribute to a culture of collaboration and accountability. In partnership with the PMO, they will track progress against milestones, budgetary guidelines, and other performance indicators, and prepare reports regarding their projects for senior management. This project manager will also assist with the selection and management of all activities regarding external consultants or vendors related to the project.



Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all phases of operational improvement projects, including RFP process, permitting, and planning required across a project lifecycle.
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of facility expansion projects, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Promote a safe and quality-driven culture across the project.
  • Prepare monthly and ad hoc reporting on project status, progress and key milestones, as well as maintain risk, lessons learned and change logs.
  • Coordinate with operations managers, engineers, contractors, safety and internal stakeholders to ensure technical & safety requirements are met and project milestones are achieved.
  • Support operations leads by managing projects according to agreed timetables to ensure key deliverables are available as required.
  • Support permitting processes and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal building codes and environmental regulations.
  • Track and manage Requests for Proposals (RFPs), submittals, and change orders in collaboration with contractors and consultants.
  • Develop schedules, identify critical paths and bottlenecks, and maintain execution throughout the duration of project.
  • Develop framework to execute delivery of a program with the right level of process.
  • Maintain detailed project records, including budgets, schedules, and change orders, and provide regular updates and summarized reports to Management.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Application of project management principles and use of traditional project management techniques to successfully deliver operational improvement projects.
  • Excellent planning, analytical, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to organize and coordinate information and various sources.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and build relationships across the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, PowerBI a plus. Familiarity with project management software.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present prepared materials to management.
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly, with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Detail-oriented while able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Must be able to work independently and productively with appropriate supervision.
  • Organized with good time management skills and able to manage multiple projects to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve routine problems.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
  • CAPM or related certification a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering field, or equivalent industry experience, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of technical and professional principles, practices, laws, applications and programs in the construction, waste management, or similar industry.
  • 2+ years of project management experience, ideally working on construction, facility expansion, new equipment installation, or related projects


Language Skill:

  • Proficiency in English. Ability to communicate in Spanish is considered beneficial.


Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to sit or stand in front of a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Participation in site walks and inspections to monitor construction progress, quality, and safety compliance.
  • Local travel to different GreenWaste facilities in California may require access to transportation.


Work Environment:

A typical work week is Monday through Friday in an office setting.
