About Indus Precision Manufacturing
Indus Precision Manufacturing is an AS9100D / ISO 9001:2015 certified, ITAR-registered precision CNC machine shop serving the aerospace, defense, and semiconductor industries. We deliver complex, tight-tolerance components and assemblies to demanding customers and hold ourselves to the highest standards of quality, precision, and integrity.
Position Summary
The Production Lead owns the planning and flow of work across the shop floor and the supply base. This role translates customer orders and routers into an executable production schedule, sequences jobs across CNC and fabrication operations to maximize machine utilization, and manages outside processes and suppliers to keep outsourced work on schedule and in compliance. The Production Lead is the central point of coordination between the floor, purchasing, and quality—ensuring parts move on time, to print, and to AS9100 requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
• Plan and schedule jobs across CNC machines and work centers using JobBOSS2, balancing due dates, capacity, setup efficiency, and material availability.
• Sequence and prioritize work orders to maximize machine utilization and minimize idle time and bottlenecks.
• Maintain accurate routers, work order status, labor data, and shop floor schedules in JobBOSS2.
• Monitor job progress against schedule, identify at-risk jobs early, and adjust priorities to protect on-time delivery.
Supplier & Outsourcing Management
• Manage outside processes (e.g., plating, heat treat, finishing, special fabrication) and the suppliers who perform them.
• Issue, track, and expedite outsourced purchase orders; hold suppliers accountable to lead times, quality requirements, and flow-down clauses.
• Follow up proactively with suppliers to keep outsourced operations on track and reintegrated into the production schedule without delay.
• Evaluate supplier performance and escalate recurring quality or delivery issues.
Shop Floor Coordination & Quality
• Coordinate daily floor execution with machinists, operators, and quality to keep parts moving to schedule.
• Ensure work is performed and documented in accordance with AS9100D / ISO 9001:2015 requirements, including revision control, traceability, and FOD controls.
• Partner with quality on inspection planning, nonconformance flow, and corrective action so production issues are resolved promptly.
• Support continuous improvement of scheduling, throughput, and on-time delivery metrics.
Required Qualifications
• Must be a U.S. citizen, as this role requires access to ITAR-controlled technical data.
• Working knowledge of AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality management requirements as they apply to a machine shop environment.
• Solid understanding of machine shop and fabrication processes (CNC milling and turning, setups, tooling, finishing, and related operations).
• Familiarity with outside processes and outsourcing, with the ability to manage suppliers and hold them to schedule and quality commitments.
• Experience with production planning and scheduling using an ERP/MRP system; JobBOSS2 (or comparable ERP) experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret GD&T.
• Strong organizational, communication, and follow-through skills, and sense of urgency with the ability to coordinate across the floor, purchasing, and quality.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience in an aerospace, defense, or other regulated manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with ITAR-controlled work and associated handling requirements.
• Demonstrated success driving on-time delivery and machine utilization improvements.
Compensation
$80,000–$100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Indus offers a benefits package and the opportunity to grow with a stable, established precision manufacturer.
What We Value
We hold every member of our team to the standards that define Indus: integrity, honesty, accountability, and respect. The Production Lead leads by example—taking ownership of commitments and upholding our customer-centric commitment to precision and quality in everything that leaves the floor.
