Job Title: Chemist 1
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Chemist to join our team on the 3rd shift. The position involves performing a variety of chemical tests and analyses, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with GMP operations.
Responsibilities
- Log samples or specimens noting date, time, and tests to be performed.
- Prepare necessary equipment and organize supplies and reagents.
- Prepare samples for testing by diluting, filtering, centrifuging, and digesting.
- Perform standard chemical tests and correlate results with other information.
- Run quality control samples with known values to ensure procedures and results are within acceptable limits.
- Collect or assist in collecting samples for analysis.
- Enter results of tests in appropriate logs or specification sheets.
- Complete test result forms and notify supervisors of significant findings.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records detailing quality control procedures and results.
- Perform routine calibration and minor maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Inform supervisors of inventory and supply needs.
- Stay current in the field by reading literature and attending symposiums and workshops.
- Maintain knowledge and compliance with GMP operations.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related science field.
- 0-1 years of laboratory experience, preferably with HPLC or GC.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific literature and technical procedures.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from various groups.
- Proficiency in applying principles of logical or scientific thinking.
- Experience with nonverbal symbolism such as formulas and graphs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, wet chemistry, and sample preparation.
- Experience with laboratory equipment such as GCMS, mass spectrometry, FTIR, HPLC, and gas chromatography.
- Knowledge of titration, UV-vis, centrifuge, and preventative lab maintenance.
Work Environment
The position is based in the QC Lab, working with a team of 20-25 people. The role requires standing, handling objects, and reaching with hands and arms. The employee must lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Morton Grove, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
