Job Purpose
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to join our team at CSC PACE Center. This role will provide support to elderly or disabled individuals, ensuring their comfort and well-being in a safe and caring environment. You will be responsible for assisting with daily activities, personal hygiene, and providing companionship to enhance the quality of life for the clients we serve.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring their dignity and privacy at all times.
· Aid in feeding, ensuring clients’ meals meet dietary restrictions or preferences.
· Provide mobility assistance, including transferring clients from bed to chair, and assisting with walking.
· Monitor and record client’s health status, including daily changes, symptoms, or concerns, and communicate with staff or families as needed.
· Offer emotional support and companionship, engaging in conversations and activities to enhance clients' mental and emotional well-being.
· Assist with medication reminders or simple health tasks as directed by supervisors or health professionals.
· Help maintain cleanliness in client areas, including tidying up living spaces, laundry, and assisting with personal belongings.
· Follow all safety protocols, emergency procedures, and hygiene standards to ensure a safe environment for both clients and staff.
· Work collaboratively with a team of caregivers, nurses, and administrators to deliver personalized care plans and achieve the best outcomes for each client.
· Maintain a respectful, empathetic, and caring approach in all interactions with clients, families, and staff.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
· Current BLS/First Aide required.
· Certified Nursing Assistant certificate, preferred but not required.
Experience:
· A minimum total of two years of working experience with frail or elderly population.
Skills and Knowledge:
· Effective written and oral communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to problem solve and apply good judgment.
· Ability to function well independently.
· Ability to use or be trained in computer skills for the workplace.
· Demonstrates necessary skills and knowledge as outlined in attached position-specific Competency Assessment Profile.
· Able to speak Cantonese/Mandarin preferred
Other:
· Requires physical strength to perform the job.
· Routine travel between PACE sites and in the community required.
· Requires valid driver’s license.
Physical Demands
· Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
· Ability to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
· Able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
· Able to constantly position yourself to maintain files in file cabinets such as reaching with hands and arms, kneeling, crouching, etc.
· The ability to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, and exchange information is crucial for this role.
