Job Title: General Laborer – Construction Support (Wheeler Air Force Base)
Job Description
This role provides hands-on construction and general labor support at Wheeler Air Force Base, focusing on soil packing and related site work. You will work full-time on a daytime schedule, supporting safe and efficient field operations in a controlled, secure environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform general labor tasks on a construction site at Wheeler Air Force Base, following all site rules and security protocols.
- Pack, compact, and handle soil and related materials as directed to support construction and site preparation activities.
- Operate basic hand tools and equipment safely and correctly under supervision.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and work effectively as part of a construction crew.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, promptly removing debris and materials as directed.
- Adhere to all safety procedures, including those related to hazardous waste operations once trained and certified.
- Support loading, unloading, and moving materials and equipment around the job site.
- Comply with all access requirements for working on a military base, following security guidelines.
Essential Skills
- Experience performing general labor duties in a construction or similar field environment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, bending, and working outdoors for extended periods.
- Capability to pack and handle soil and other construction materials safely and efficiently.
- Willingness and ability to obtain a 40-hour HAZWOPER certification as required for the role.
- Ability to pass a to obtain base access at Wheeler Air Force Base.
- Reliability and punctuality for a full-time Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Strong commitment to following safety procedures and site regulations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior construction labor experience in Hawaii or similar environments.
- Familiarity with working on secure or controlled-access sites.
- Comfort working as part of a diverse construction crew and taking direction from supervisors.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety practices and personal protective equipment (PPE) use.

Work Environment
This is a full-time, on-site position at Wheeler Air Force Base, working Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The work takes place outdoors and on active construction areas, involving exposure to varying weather conditions, soil, dust, and typical construction-site noise. The role is physically demanding and requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, and manual handling of materials. You will use standard construction tools and equipment appropriate for general labor and soil packing tasks. Compliance with base access rules and security procedures is mandatory, and you must wear appropriate personal protective equipment and follow any site-specific dress or safety requirements at all times.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $69.66 - $69.99/hr.
