Position: Manufacturing Superintendent



McKinley Paper and Packaging Company, a Paper and Corrugated Container manufacturer has an immediate opening for a Manufacturing/Plant Superintendent, to oversee the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility, which includes planning, coordinating, and directing the activities and processes that result in products being manufactured to customer specification.


Job Description


  • Effectively and efficiently manage the production of daily/weekly/monthly targets in line with customer specifications, meeting quality and delivery expectations, minimizing costs where possible, and ensuring best working practices are maintained.
  • Responsible for production, financial performance, meeting customer requirements and maintaining the orderly and productive operation of planned activities.
  • Communicate and liaise with other department managers regarding changing needs and/or requirements.
  • Drive process improvements through data analysis, root cause analysis, and risk and opportunity assessments.
  • Manage, coach and develop a high performing manufacturing team of 6 supervisors and 100+ employees through training and development, that meets agreed objectives, delivers best practice results, provides added value and works for continuous improvements.
  • Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance with department employees and management.
  • Work as part of the Management team to share ideas and improve operations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimizing cost.
  • Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact.
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Manufacturing activities.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing team to address and resolve product non-conformances.
  • Review and approve Manufacturing Process Plans.
  • Develop and oversee receiving inspections of production hardware.
  • Must possess a strong safety, operations, and business background.
  • Will have financial and process acumen, be results-driven and possess strong communications skills.

This position provides the opportunity to gain broad operational experience, partner with senior leaders, and develop the skills necessary for increased leadership responsibility.


Basic Requirements:


  • Five (5) or more years of supervisory or management experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility.
  • Experience in analyzing data to identify and eliminate waste, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and other PC-based operations and maintenance software.
  • Continuous improvement, experience and/or education.
  • Knowledge of equipment servicing, planning/scheduling, supply chain management, mechanical maintenance, plant engineering, quality and processes and equipment.
