Position Overview
The position of Data Entry Specialist consists of inputting patient information or prescription information into pharmaceutical software databases and spreadsheets using a keyboard, mouse, and/or desktop scanner.
Key Tasks
- Compile, sort, and verify the accuracy of data before entry.
- Read and input data from source documents (i.e., written prescription orders, electronic prescription orders, faxes, etc.).
- Compare entered data with source documents for accuracy.
- Locate and correct data entry errors or report them to supervisors.
- Prioritize work in order of importance and program.
- Maintain logs of activities.
- Resolve discrepancies or indecipherable messages from patients, escalating issues with doctors to supervisors.
- Run reports needed to compile information.
- Store completed documents in designated locations.
- Make phone calls to patients and provider offices, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of basic computer programs and skills

Lines of communication
- The position of Data Entry Specialist reports directly to the Pharmacy Floor Manager and the Pharmacist-In-Charge.
Working conditions
- This is a full-time, in-person position. Work hours will fall within the organization's business hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM, and Saturday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Specific schedules may vary based on business needs.
