Job Title: Welder and Fabricator
Job Description
This role focuses on laying out, fitting, and welding fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural frames and machinery parts for industrial equipment. You will work from blueprints and schematics to produce high‑quality welds, primarily using MIG and spray arc processes, in a busy fabrication shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Lay out, position, align, and fit components together to assemble structural frames and machinery parts.
- Read and interpret work specifications, work orders, blueprints, and schematics to determine welding requirements.
- Identify and correctly apply universal weld symbols and work with various materials.
- Set up and operate welding equipment, primarily for MIG and spray arc welding, and use flux core and metal-cored wire as needed.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions, with the majority of welding performed in flat positions.
- Accurately cut, clean, de-burr, and prepare parts for welding to ensure proper fit and weld quality.
- Perform air arc gouging to remove welds or prepare weld joints as required.
- Visually inspect completed welds to verify adherence to specifications and quality standards.
- Use rigging, cranes, and jib cranes safely to move and position large-scale parts and assemblies.
- Work safely around large industrial fabrication equipment and follow all shop safety procedures.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of MIG welding experience in an industrial equipment manufacturing or industrial fabrication environment.
- Strong MIG welding skills, including spray arc welding in primarily flat positions with some out-of-position work.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics.
- Strong understanding and application of weld symbols.
- Proven fitting and fabrication experience, including assembling large structural components.
- Experience working in an industrial fabrication shop with large-scale parts.
- Ability to accurately measure and work from measurements, including reading a tape measure.
- Ability to set up and operate welding equipment safely and effectively.
- Capability to work with structural steel and various metals used in industrial fabrication.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with spray arc welding processes in a production or fabrication shop setting.
- Familiarity with flux core and metal-cored wire welding processes.
- Experience using rigging equipment, cranes, and jib cranes to handle large components.
- Experience in welding and fabrication for structural steel or heavy industrial machinery.
- Ability to perform air arc gouging for weld removal and joint preparation.
- Comfort working from detailed blueprints, schematic diagrams, and work orders in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment
You will work in a fabrication shop environment focused on industrial equipment and large-scale parts. The role involves frequent exposure to fumes and airborne particles, occasional work around moving mechanical parts and at heights, and a generally loud noise level typical of heavy fabrication operations. Positions are available on day and swing shifts: the day shift runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., with overtime often available at the start of the shift and a requirement to be open to starting as early as 5:00 a.m.; the swing shift runs Monday through Thursday from 3:45 p.m. to 2:15 a.m., with optional overtime on Fridays and a shift differential. Work involves hands-on use of welding equipment, rigging, cranes, and jib cranes, and requires appropriate shop attire and adherence to all safety and personal protective equipment requirements.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilsonville, OR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.
