  • Setting: Acute Care Hospital, Clinical Microbiology Lab\n
  • Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, 8-hour day shifts\n
  • Weekly Hours: 40\n
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,350 – $1,460\n

\n\nJob Requirements\n

    \n
  • Minimum 1 year of laboratory experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory (hospital lab tech, medical laboratory technician/technologist)\n
  • Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) certification required (ASCP preferred)\n
  • Hands-on experience with plate reading, culture set-ups, and Gram stains\n
  • Experience with MALDI-TOF, automated AST systems (Microscan), and MALDI-based identification preferred\n
  • Familiarity with rapid molecular platforms and point-of-care kits (BioFire, Cepheid GeneXpert, Liat, Sofia, Solana)\n
  • Experience with Bactec or other blood culture systems\n
  • Meditech EMR experience preferred for documentation and reporting\n
  • Ability to work rotating weekends as needed\n
  • Strong teamwork, flexibility, multi-tasking, and quick learning in a fast-paced clinical microbiology environment\n
  • Dress code: sage green scrub top and black bottoms\n

\n\nResponsibilities\n

    \n
  • Perform microbiology procedures including specimen processing, Gram stains, culture inoculation, and plate reading\n
  • Run and maintain advanced laboratory analyzers and molecular platforms (BioFire, Cepheid, Liat, Sofia, Solana, MALDI-TOF, Microscan, Bactec)\n
  • Conduct antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) workflows and assist with automated AST systems\n
  • Perform rapid kit testing and process specimens following CLIA and hospital lab protocols\n
  • Accurately document results and maintain patient records within Meditech EMR\n
  • Collaborate with a team of 5–6 plate readers and processors during day shifts to ensure timely reporting\n
  • Maintain quality control, participate in QA practices, and uphold lab safety standards\n
  • Adapt to changing priorities in a busy acute care microbiology lab\n
