Job Description

BryceTech is currently looking for a Radiation Specialist. This position will be supporting The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, Chemical Biological Center, known as DEVCOM CBC. This role will implement and oversee radiological safety programs to support government leads.

The Person in this role will:

  • Implement and oversee radiological safety programs in laboratory and field settings in accordance with NRC, DOE, and Army standards.
  • Conduct radiation surveys, contamination monitoring, and area classifications using calibrated instrumentation.
  • Manage personnel dosimetry programs, reviewing exposure reports and ensuring dose limits are not exceeded.
  • Develop radiation safety procedures, protocols, and comprehensive training materials for laboratory personnel.
  • Perform calibration, maintenance, and quality checks of radiation detection instruments.
  • Investigate radiological incidents or spills, prepare formal reports, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Audit compliance with radiation-protection regulations through scheduled inspections and record reviews.
  • Advise researchers on shielding design, waste disposal methods, and safe handling of radioactive materials.
  • Maintain radiological records, licenses, and permit documentation in secure databases.
  • Participate in emergency response drills and real-world radiological events, providing technical guidance.

Qualifications

The experience and certification requirements listed below are essential to successfully perform the tasks above:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Health Physics, Radiological Science, or related discipline; Certified Health Physicist preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of radiological safety or health physics experience.
  • Proficiency with radiation detection instrumentation and safety software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
