Position Summary
The Radiation Therapist I delivers high-quality radiation therapy treatments to patients in accordance with physician prescriptions and treatment plans. This position is responsible for operating radiation equipment, accurately positioning patients, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout treatment sessions. The role requires adherence to clinical protocols, precise documentation of treatment data, and collaboration with the care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
The Radiation Therapist I must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently and are expected to demonstrate ENCORE in all communications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Accurately deliver the prescribed, planned course of radiation therapy under the direction of the prescribing radiation oncologist
•Observe patients for unusual reactions and recognize signs and symptoms of developing complications during treatment course. Report/consult findings to appropriate staff
•Implement care/services that recognize age, diversity, individual needs and/or issues of patients served
•Confidently explain treatment procedures to patients as they are performed in a clear, concise manner
•Ability to answer patients’ and their families’ questions and defer appropriately when such questions are outside the scope of a Radiation Therapist’s credentials or education
•Act as a representative for Radiation Business Solutions, Anchorage Radiation Oncology Center, and Auroura Integrated Oncology Foundation in the community, showcasing ENCORE values
•Reviews charges for accuracy and compliance with billing practices
•Compliant with HIPAA practices
•Maintain department records of daily treatment.
•Review charts regularly for accuracy and perform audits as directed
•Participate in code blue drills
•Follow effective infection control procedures.
•Responsible for daily warm-up procedures for treatment equipment for quality assurance
•Apply principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others
•Complete morning QA unsupervised, reports errors, and makes appropriate corrective care
•Perform CT and clinical simulations accurately and efficiently
•Prepare simulation rooms based on diagnostic notes
•Order clinical blocks through dotDecimal
•Understand and apply computerized treatment plans
•Troubleshoot and resolve machine errors as needed
•Communicate patient changes to senior therapists or supervisors
•Open and close the center in compliance with facility policies
•Ensure adherence to billing rules and regulations

Requirements:
•Graduate of JRCERT Accredited Radiation Therapy Program or equivalent
•Healthcare Provider BLS Certified
•Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (preferred)
•Experience in healthcare or oncology (preferred).
•Current certification and/or licensure as a Radiation Therapist (RT(R)) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
