Payroll Manager (Annapolis, MD)


ApplySalary Range:


$70,000.00 To $85,000.00 Annually

Summary/Objective:

The Payroll Manager oversees and manages all aspects of payroll administration. This role ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll, compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and effective coordination with HR and Finance teams. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills to maintain and improve payroll operations.

Essential Functions:

  1. Payroll Processing
  • Oversee and manage the end-to-end payroll process for all employees.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll disbursements in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Review and approve payroll transactions and adjustments.
  1. Compliance and Reporting
  • Maintain compliance with all payroll-related laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and file payroll tax reports (e.g., quarterly and annual filings).
  • Coordinate with auditors and regulatory agencies as needed.
  1. System Management
  • Manage and maintain payroll systems and software.
  • Implement system upgrades and process improvements.
  • Ensure data integrity and security within payroll systems.
  1. Employee Support
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and tax withholdings.
  • Provide guidance on payroll policies and procedures.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and issues promptly.
  1. Collaboration and Coordination
  • Work closely with HR and Finance departments to ensure accurate employee data and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with benefits administrators for deductions and contributions.
  • Support internal and external audits related to payroll.
  1. Documentation and Recordkeeping
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.
  • Ensure proper archiving and confidentiality of payroll data.
  • Develop and update payroll policies and procedures.
  1. Project Management
  • Lead payroll-related projects such as system implementations or policy changes.
  • Analyze payroll processes and recommend improvements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
