Title: Cytotechnologist – Cytology

Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5x8 hours (08:00 – 17:30)
Job Responsibilities:

Perform cytology testing and evaluation of specimens, including Pap smears, body fluids, and fine needle aspirations
\t

Assist with specimen collection, smear preparation, staining, and preliminary diagnosis
\t
- \t
Maintain quality control and quality assurance processes in the laboratory
\t
- \t
Ensure proper specimen labeling, identification, and documentation in Cerner EMR
\t
- \t
Support on-site procedures and handle specialty samples including respiratory tract, ascitic fluid, esophageal, gastric, spinal, and thin-prep specimens
\t
- \t
Collaborate with laboratory staff and may float within the hospital laboratory as needed
\t
- \t
Adhere to safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance standards
\t

Required Skills & Qualifications:

ASCP certification

Previous charge experience required
\t

Cerner EMR experience
\t

1 year of relevant cytology experience preferred

Ability to perform specialized cytology techniques and handle non-gynecological specimens

Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, staining, and quality control
\t
- \t
Comfortable with floating within the specialty as needed
\t

Ability to follow departmental protocols for productivity and documentation

Preferred Skills & Experience:

Experience in teaching hospitals or community hospitals

Exposure to LTAC, trauma level I or II settings

Skilled in handling advanced cytology specimens (bronchial, body fluids, fine needle aspirations)

Ability to assist and support other laboratory procedures and staff
