Job Description

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A leadership opportunity is available for a Director of Pharmacy and PIC in a well-established hospital setting. This contract position offers a chance to manage and oversee pharmacy operations at a community hospital dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities include managing staffing and scheduling, ordering and securing narcotics, participating in leadership meetings, and overseeing sterile compounding activities. The role demands a hands-on approach to ensure compliance and operational excellence within the pharmacy department. Familiarity or training on EPIC order entry and Pyxis automation systems is part of the onboarding process. The pharmacy services a diverse range of specialties, including Emergency Department, Infusion, and Orthopedics.

Work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with Saturday hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Coverage includes four 10-hour shifts plus on-call duties during off-hours, with weekend coverage on a rotating basis every fourth weekend and on-call from Friday evenings through Monday mornings.

The pharmacy team consists of one full-time pharmacist and two PRN pharmacists, supported by pharmacy technicians responsible for IV preparation and operation of dispensing machines, though they do not verify orders. The facility recently completed a successful accreditation review and maintains a strong operational record.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Valid Ohio Pharmacist license
  • Inpatient pharmacy experience including IV admixtures
  • Knowledge of 340B drug pricing program
  • Leadership experience with ability to manage staffing and scheduling
  • Sterile compounding expertise

Additional perks include:

  • Comprehensive onboarding and training modules
  • Opportunity for local housing coordination with area cabin owners
  • Convenient access via nearby airport

This contract position will begin mid-March and continues until the permanent Director of Pharmacy is appointed. Those interested in a role that combines clinical leadership with operational management in an autonomous pharmacy setting are encouraged to apply.
