Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Location: Littleton, NH

Job Type: Full Time with Benefits

Reports To: Clinical Manager

Travel: Limited

Overview:

The role involves basic nursing duties, providing care to clients with a variety of health concerns. All direct patient care is done under the supervision of the physician/mid-level providers. The LPN also conducts patient education and advocacy as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

The LPN works as an integral member of the healthcare team, performing duties such as:

  • Patient Intake/Assessment: Greeting and preparing patients, collecting and recording data for health history, including vital signs (height, weight, BP, pulse, temperature, respirations), medication, and allergies.
  • Medication/Injections: Administering specified medication orally or by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, and noting the time and amount.
  • Procedures: Performing phlebotomy, ensuring appropriate lab slips are prepared, and maintaining a log of tests. Assisting providers with simple procedures and acting as a chaperone when necessary.
  • Follow-up: Assisting providers with patient follow-up on normal labs.
  • Clinic Support: Keeping storage areas, labs, and exam rooms stocked, safe, clean, and orderly. Cleaning and sterilizing instruments and special procedure packs daily. Assisting with special clinics like Well Child, Blood Pressure screening, and Immunization clinics.
  • Documentation: Completing and signing all documentation accurately and timely.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited LPN Program.
  • Experience: 1–2 years of direct experience.
  • Licenses/Certificates:
    • License on file with the state of New Hampshire.
    • Current BLS Certification.
  • Knowledge/Skills:
    • Good knowledge of agency-wide policies and procedures.
    • Appropriate judgment in managing patient questions/complaints.
    • Knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients (infant, adolescent, geriatric, etc.).
    • Ability to communicate effectively (written and spoken), solve problems, make critical decisions, and work within the scope of practice for current licensure.
    • Ability to comprehend and use ACHS computer software and the Electronic Medical System.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Setting: A professional clinical environment, constantly interacting with people and handling several responsibilities at once.
  • Equipment: Routinely uses standard clinical tools (e.g., stethoscope, blood pressure meters, syringes, vaccines) and standard office equipment.
  • Physical Activity: Regularly required to see, talk, hear, speak. The role involves a great deal of walking, standing, moving, and manipulating equipment. Frequent use of hands for palpation, handling, or feeling is required.
  • Lifting: Anticipated lifting of 20-25 pounds on any given day, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
