Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This contract position offers an opportunity to support middle school students with a range of learning needs in an inclusive educational environment. The role involves working closely with approximately 15 students who have Specific Learning Disabilities (SLDs), health conditions, and other mild to moderate exceptionalities, providing both co-taught and resource room instruction.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering instruction during 3 co-taught English Language Arts (ELA) blocks
- Providing resource room support for one dedicated block
- Collaborating effectively with general education teachers and school-based teams to support student success
- Adapting teaching strategies to meet individual student needs and promote positive learning outcomes
Qualifications and desired experience:
- Valid Virginia Special Education Teaching License, or actively pursuing licensure
- Experience working with middle school students preferred
- Familiarity with inclusive classroom settings and co-teaching models
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to participate productively in multidisciplinary teams
Location and schedule:
- Staunton, VA
- School year position from July 30, 2025, through May 22, 2026
- Monday through Friday, 8:00/8:30 AM to 3:00/3:30 PM
